RoHS, Waste
In accordance with the applicable legislation in force, waste materials are assessed, analysed and classified in order to ensure that its handling does not result in permanent damage to the environmental interests. Regulation of waste toxicity is also related to the RoHS Directive defining the rules for the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment, in order to reduce risks for the period when an article becomes waste.

What is RoHS?
- Restriction of the use of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) is based on the DIRECTIVE 2002/95/EC of the EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 27 January 2003 on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. The Directive imposes an obligation on the manufacturers/importers of electrical and electronic equipment in categories 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 10 to ensure that any electrical and electronic equipment put to the market after 30 June 2006 does not contain selected toxic substances.

List of forbidden substances
- Cadmium
- Mercury
- Lead
- Hexavalent chromium
- Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB)
- Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE)
- Decabromdiphenyl ether
-
What products are subject to RoHS?
- RoHS requirements apply to final products falling under the scope of this Directive. This means that all components and component combinations within an assembly sub-category may not contain any of the forbidden substances at a level exceeding the maximum concentration.
- Household electrical appliances
- Telecommunication and computer equipment
- Consumer electronics
- Lighting equipment
- Power tools
- Toys, sports equipment
- Automatic dispensers
- Light bulbs
- All electrical and electronic equipment with a voltage rating under 1,000 V (please note that there are exceptions)
- RoHS requirements apply to final products falling under the scope of this Directive. This means that all components and component combinations within an assembly sub-category may not contain any of the forbidden substances at a level exceeding the maximum concentration.

RoHS2
- The scope of RoHS o RoHS2 has been expanded since 2011 (Directive 2011/65/EU of European Parlament and of the council from 8th July 2011,) which has same limits as RoHS, only expands groups of products about:

- In-vitro diagnostic medical devices (valid from 2016)
- Monitoring and control equipment (valid from 2014)
- Industrial and measuring equipment (valid from 2014)
- All electrical and electronic equipment not covered by any categories mentioned above (valid from 2019)

Responsibilities
- A new directive introduces a wide range of procedures and responsibilities as it´s conformity assessment of products with basic directive requirements, CE marking, conformity statement, identification and rating of the product, administration of technical documentation for 10 years and proving of compliance testing or rating in accordance with harmonized standards.
- The manufacturer of equipment must ensure that his products do not include six restricted substances. Directive does not edit a production of individual components and spare parts. The manufacturer must ensure that none of the components his product do not contain restricted substances.
- Although RoHS directives are valid only for EU, manufactures of electrical and electronic equipment outside the EU have same responsibility if their products are imported by individual EU countries.
